Following a decision of the Kebbi
State Government to reach out to a large number of citizens with medical
problems that they lack the financial resources to solve, a team of
doctors, nurses, pharmacists and laboratory scientists that arrived
Kebbi State from the United States of America last week have gone far at
discharging their services to about 6,000 people with different
ailments within two weeks of their stay in the state.

“So
far more than 6,000 people were received out of which over 800 were
operated on their eyes. 500 others suffering from different ailments
were also treated. In all, over 2,000 people have been treated and
discharged since their arrival”, he said.
Kende
stated that the medical team was invited by the State Government to
offer medical outreach services in the state to boost its health care
delivery initiatives and to reduce the number of ailments among the
people. He explained, “The government realized that because of the
economic hardship many people do not have access to quality health care
services but with this they can get treatment free of charge. Since we
received letter of commitment from them that they would be coming, the
State Ministry of Health has embarked on mobilization of people for the
treatment.”
