Kamarudeen Ogundele, Ado Ekiti
Principals, parents and teachers in
Ekiti State have commended Governor Ayodele Fayose for the success of
the state’s candidates in the just released results of the 2016 National
Examination Council.
NECO recently released the results of
the Senior School Certificate Examination it conducted between June and
July this year, with Ekiti State topping others with 96.48 per cent
followed by Edo State with 96.31 per cent.
Various groups, including the All
Nigerian Conference of Principals of Secondary School, the Positive
Minds and Parent Teacher Association of Nigeria, on Tuesday said the
education policies in the state aided the achievements.
They commended the governor for fully implementing the recommendations of last year’s Education Summit held in the state.
Speaking first during the courtesy call
on the governor, the Ekiti State Chairman of ANCOPPS, Mr Biodun
Omotosho, said the governor’s commitment to improving the sector really
paid off.
“Before Governor Fayose came back, there
was a policy mistrust between teachers and the government. We were not
sure of whether our jobs would be taken from us, but you came to office
and gave us hope and rest of mind. Today, we are seen as partners not as
mere employees that could be thrown away like refuse,” he said.
